Other User Screen frozen on my laptop

HP Recommended

I have an HP laptop that I have been using for 5 years through my school district. I have not ever had a problem logging into the Computer. I will say that the last time I used it was 1.5-2 weeks ago. When I went to turn it on this morning, the HP logo showed as usual. Then it proceeded to the login screen except it says “other user” and the circles are going round and round. It is not possible to click anything. There is not a place to login or to enter my password. I have tried turning it off and back on... no change. I’ve plugged it in. No change. I’ve right clicked and left clicked... I’ve tried pushing ALT CNTRL DLTE and ESC. Nothing happens. Help please!

@Jessica_1985, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Restart the PC and check if it gives you an option to enter Safe mode.

If not perform the steps mentioned in this document to boot to Safe mode.

Once the PC is in Safe mode,

1. Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.

2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.

3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items checkbox.

4. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services checkbox, and then click Disable All.

5. Click Apply and OK.

6. When you are prompted, click Restart.

7. After the computer starts verify whether you are able to resolve the issue.

If the issue persists, you will have to boot to safe mode again and create a new user account.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
