FYI - according to my case notes, there is a replacement tablet on the way.
I'll see if it works better, andI really don't think we should be letting HP off the hook so easily, BIOS issues or actual hardware fault, or may be just poor design and implementation - we paid for a premium prduct, they can keep replacing it or give a refund, really. I might be prepared to accept the touch screen performance on a cheap disposable tablet, but not on their supposedly business grade tablets.
Hopefully this one will be ok. I'll let you knmow when it arrives and if it is functioning correctly. Otherwise I'll just send it back.

I certainly was not letting HP off the Hook easily but going through two of these tablets each with major issues I chose to return them. Considering nearly a year later these tablets are STILL having the same problems I made the right decision.
Really a shame cause on paper this was easily the best Small Windows tablet to come out in years but the real world experience was unusable. Besides the touch issues it had wifi problems where it would discconect randomly and the wifi speed would be 4X less after coming out of sleep mode compared with a fresh reboot.
I just cannot believe HP STILL has not fixed the issue since it is happening to each and every tablet past FW 1.08
If they ever fix it I'd almost consider getting it again as I REALLY want an 8 inch Windows tablet with 4GB and 128 drive.

Totally understand, I'm just very disappointed and slightly angry at myself to be honest for not returning it ASAP for a refund - I just assumed that SURELY HP would release a BIOS update to fix the touchscreen problem. They must know by now. I'd have just purchased the 10" Surface 3 that was available at the time, but this is no longer available new, it seems, on the MS Store, and I can't find ANY mention of a smaller form factor Windows Tablet. Lenovo, et al, are releasing 10" and above. The HP is exactly the size and ratio I was after.

Yea in my few dealings with support on this issue I was pretty sure they'd fix it, alot of us were opening tickets to HP and complaining but seems HP just ignored it and here we are almost a year later.
If you can find one on Ebay or amazon I would highly recomend the Surface 3. After my failing with the HP 608 I bought a 4GB ram 128 GB drive Surface 3 and it has pretty much ran perfectly and been a great tablet since I got one in Feb. I would much prefer an 8 inch tablet but the Surface 3 is pretty thin and light and the kickstand is really useful.
I tried the HP 608 twice, the Lenovo Thinkpad 8 and a couple of Chinese brand Cherry trail tablets and they all had issues and were not worth keeping. I had to just deal with the larger form factor and the Surface 3 was the smallest and lightest.
All I wanted was an 8 inch tablet with a 1080P+ screen 4GB ram and 128 drive and their is no worthwhile tablet with those spec's in the entire world. They either have wifi issues, touch screen issues, bad battery life, thermal issues etc.
MS was the only company to make a decent and reliable CherryTrail windows tablet. Every other Cherrytrail Tablet I tried (about 3 different models) were a technical mess like the HP 608.

Going to keep bumping this thread, sorry for the alerts but I think it needs to keep bubbling to the top so at least other people can see the issues with this tablet and/or report their own problems. I've spoken to two different tech support guys, lost it a bit at the 2nd last one, getting very frustrated - will save the details, suffice to say that I don't have a replacement yet.
The HP customer relationship guy today finally properly listened and seemed like he understood my problem - I kept asking "If it is actually a hardware fault then yes, I will accept a replacement (I actually like the little tablet), however if it is a fundamental problem with the whole line, then I want a refund."
He's working on that premise - so I'm a bit miffed that the tablet hasn't arrived, but I'll be patient a little longer, and I'll let you know the outcome. I'll give it a little bit longer then I'll just call into question "fitness for purpose" - the price of the tablet is the thing that kind f dictates it shouldn't have these issues, IMHO.

FYI HP are sending the "next generation" 608 G1 tablet as replacement. I notced that the product number has changed, so maybe...?
Made it this far, so I will wait. The specs appear exactly the same so hopefully they've just fixed some of the issues, hence the part number change..
I purchased N4L93PA (4Gb/128Gb) - the repalcement (confirmed "new version" by HP tech support on phone) is X7A43PA - seems to have exactly the same specs (4/128/z8500), same tablet (608 G1) but different part number.
I'll post a final review when it arrives and to let people know if it fixes "the" problem.

The Latese BIOS firmware V1.14 Rev A pushed by HP Support Assistant still doesn't fix the touch lag defect, while the official support site remains V1.13 Rev A on the page.
It's such a disappointment that so many versions submitted but just none of them did anything useful for solving this defect, HP Sucks.
