I had to perform a factory reset on my laptop yesterday. I carried out a full backup to 12 DVDs using the HP Support Assistant. When complete, I continued via the Support Assistant to perform the factory reset. However, since then I cannot find how to restore all my files from my DVD backup!  Can anyone help, please?

@Tommydmfc,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

  • Are you getting any error message or code while playing DVD's?
  • Does computer recognize the DVD disk?
  • Have you checked the DVD on a different computer

You may try to remove the dvd and  use a microfiber cloth as it is excellent for lint-free cleaning.

Once done, insert the dvd and try to check if it works.

Let me know how it goes for further assistance!

Hi, Jeet_singh.

Before I had received your response, I noticed that on the 1st DVD there was a file RecoveryMgr.exe as mentioned in the support document to which you refer and I just ran this.

I was then able to recover all my files from the backup.

Thanks for your response.
