I have a Stream 7 tablet and would like to be able to boot from USB so that I can restore partitions on the drive at a later date.

I tend to use Acronis True Image for my DR imaging and have used it to create a bootable USB stick, so that the backup/restoration tool can load from the USB.

I understand how to get to the BIOS menu and change the boot order on the tablet, but this USB stick will not boot - it just ignores it and boots to Windows 8 anyway.

Are there any obvious reasons why the USB stick may not be recognised as bootable by the HP Stream 7?

The USB stick is a Corsair Flash Voyager, 1GB

Also, in case it is a problem with that specific model, can anyone recommend a USB flash device which definitely works with this tablet as a bootable device ?

Thanks!

You are using an OTG adapter correct? The Stream tablet has a 32-bit UEFI with no legacy support mode so the boot program must support that.  Most Linux distros for instance (even 32-bit) only support 64-bit UEFI's and require tweaking to boot on the Stream so that might be your problem with Acronis True Image. Also disable Secure Boot if you haven't already.
