This is the first windows tablet I owned. Most of the tablets I bought I could charge and plug into my descktop PC. My question is can I do this with the HP stream? I realize it is running the full version of windows operating system and as far as I know you can not connect to desktop computers togeather using USB.
I am just curious that maybe the type of USB port on the HP Stream might allow it to be connected to a desktop computer.

The USB port style the stream uses allows for powered usb connections to connect to and charge the stream 7 much like all other portables, although your PC will need to support 2amp power output.
The stream however does not support the data connections you normaly see on android devices. If you wanted to transfer data, you would need a full blown usb transfer kit (with OTG adapter for the stream). Being a full blown pc, the stream supports all the normal methods of file transfers though, USB drives, microSD, file shares (samba) over wifi.

Connecting Stream 7 to Desktop is like connecting another Laptop to a Desktop by USB. No any kind of USB can connect the Stream 7 to Desktop and recognize it as Android Tablet, but connecting it to Desktop via USB will chrage your Tablet's battery.
Hope this helps.
