Also disabling bluetooth doesn't do anything for me, to be honest things got worse after I disable bluetooth.
EDIT: Rebooted it and the wifi is fixed. weird
I also let it install a bunch of windows updates. But I doubt that has anything to do with it, although there was a option LAN driver that I went ahead and installed too, but it said nothing about Realtek or wi-fi
EDIT 2: Well nevermind, now it spikes to 300KB/s and drops to nothing, over and over and over.

In my case the issue seems to be caused by the router security. If I connect to my DSL modem/router by wifi not only does my Stream 7 constantly drop, but it even causes other devices in the house to be thrown off the connection also. To try to avoid effecting other devices, I pulled out an old D-Link router and connected it by cable to the DSL router and connected the Stream 7 by wifi to the D-Link. At default settings, the D-Link had no security enabled and the Stream 7 connected without drops and all my other devices on the other router also stopped dropping. When I enabled the security in the D-Link - bam - the Stream 7 started dropping again. Due to my particular situation I was able to simply set the D-Link up as hidden and leave it unsecured (not ideal, obviously, but again possible in my situation). It's been this way for about 2 weeks now and the Stream 7 has not dropped one single time.

D-Link routers are not very good in the first place. At least back when I was using their Wireless-G routers. That sounds more like a router issue that the tablet.
Now strangly enough this morning, I check my download on steam and it has been at my QOS cap of 1MB/S for a good half hour now. Weird.
I guess it just works when it wants to.
Seeing the The Walking Dead game works well without a keyboard. I don't remember if there are keyboard prompts in that game or not. I guess I will find out. lol
My OTG cables are not going to come until after the begining of the year, so that's a bummer

I agree the problem is the security, but on my primary DSL modem/router the connection drops no matter what security setting I use. I initially tried TKIP-only based on your earlier post, but that didn't stop the issue (in fact, it drops much more frequently with TKIP-only, with connections only lasting maybe 30-45 seconds before dropping). I then tried AES-only, which was far more stable than TKIP-only, but still dropped every few minutes. Disabling all security stopped the dropping instantly, but I can't leave my primary router open as it has no ability to disable broadcasting its SSID (and I have one device that won't connect to a hidden network, so I can't disable the wifi altogether on that router either).
Beyond that, if TKIP is enabled (together with AES or alone), my other devices get thrown off the router as soon as my Stream 7 goes to sleep. They can connect fine while the Stream is awake, but the entire time it sleeps they constantly get thrown off. With AES only, the Stream drops but the other devices get left alone. With no security, of course, nothing drops or gets thrown off.

It's really hard to pin point it down to just AES or TKIP, I've used my stream 7 across 40+ networks since I received it over thanksgiving. With a mix of no security (hotels, cafes, etc), low security (e.g. family that still use WEP & tethered to my mifi/phone), WPA/WPA2 enterprise & personal encryption that client locations use (as well as my own networks). Access points/routers ranging from linksys, d-link, (real) cisco aironets, apple airport based networks, aruba & xirrus and more. All networks had WiFi drops, sure you could say I had a bum unit but with the other people commenting over the last two weeks *shrugs* there's just no simple fix. What saddens me is even with a newer driver than what HP released, the wifi drop still persists, to me that means there's still a few more months of "living with this" left. Add to that other companies (Dell) who use this same chipset in their problem are having problems too, it's just adding salt to the wounds.
As for me, I need a device I can test/survey (potential) client wifi network installations with, and take notes/look up info in meetings where I don't have to spend time troubleshooting my own tablet. That's why I returned mine, and have gone back on the hunt for a low cost tablet that isn't iOS or Android as the software I use don't work well on mobile OSes.

Yeah, I didn't want a Android device either, and still have no interest in ever using IOS.
I have a flagship LG G2, that is the only Android device I will need for a while. lol
I have a Chromebook that I used for all of my internet browsing, but there is no Skype on ChromeOS, and Ubuntu is just a plain headache to deal with if I installed that on my Chromebook.
A Desktop with Windows 7 Pro 64bit for the heavy computing needs, like gaming and video encoding.
The stream 7 copled with a keyboard, case, and a wireless portable mouse makes a great small little device for Steam streaming when I don't feel like sitting at the desktop, and extremely portable light gaming machine on its own, playing games on low settings.

Yep, definitely the bluetooth.
After a whole day of good wifi with the bluetooth off, I turned it back on to play with my moga controller on it, and I went to go download teamviewer so I can set it all up faster, and the download speed took a dump. Back to pre dialup speeds.

Sup gang, so how's it going? Ok, not trying to add salt to the wounds, but I ended up on a toshiba encore 2 8" tablet. It has the same chipset wifi and doesn't have the drops. I know it's not really a troubleshooting step, but ummm... Anyway, someone posted on my Amazon review of the tablet that some new drivers fixed the wifi issue so I thought I'd check back in, see if it was true and I just returned my s7 a week too early. Oh well, merry christmas, kwanza, hanukkah, solstice, festivus or happy holidays.
