I have found the best solution to the battery drain is to shut down my stream when not in use. It boots up fast enough on start up.

I don't think the battery will charge while in Sleep, so Shutdown is preferred for overnight.

Battery charges all the time as long as it is plugged in.

I still have the uart issue, I tried doing things like turning off local network auto discovery but it didn't help. Only turning wifi off completely. What ever the issue is, it has to do with the network driver or the networking itself.

Does anything show in the sleepstudy in the red boxes to give any idea what's using the UART?  When mine kicked it, srvnet was the process shown as the insitgator, with UART being what srvnet was keeping at 100%.

Also, does anything show up on 'powercfg /requests'?

Im working on a scheduled task script that will mute the volume upon sleeping and unmute upon wakeup. If I can create one I will post it here.

I'm not sure if anyone else got around to creating a script to automate this, but i did... you can find an article by me at http://forums.windowscentral.com/hp-stream-7/341166-how-automate-wi-fi-volume-mute-connected-standby... regarding automation of enable/disable of wi-fi and mute/unmute of sound based on entering/exiting the connected standby mode. it is done via the task scheduler eventing.

Just got my HP Stream 7 and it lost over 50% charge just sitting in my bag for 4 hrs today on sleep. Found your post and have just installed what you put together. Hoping it works! And thank you!

edit - is there any kind of way to double check that I did it correctly and that it is actually working properly?

Paul, I enabled the task history and saw that atleast the scripts had been activated during standby. I can't really tell how much it has helped.. I lost about 3% over 7 hours when I slept and left it on. 3k/mah batteries just arnt enough for a windows tablet, my next tablet I def will have a badonkadonk of a battery.

Just picked up a Stream 7 from the Microsoft store and came across this thread in a search about improving battery life. Is the audio driver still an issue? Only had my Stream for a couple of days but the battery life is poor and you don't seem to be able to change the battery settings to anything other than balanced.

If this is still an issue, has anyone here actually emailed HP support about this?

After 30 days, mine refused to charge.  Nothing wrong with battery or AC adapter, battery charge controller chip died.  Returned it to store for refund.  Was able to revert to factory Windows install, before it wouldn't even turn on.

Got an Asus Transformer T100, much better.  Support forum is excellent, through Asus Transformer Forums.

AFAIK - there has been no fix for the audio driver.  Hard to imagine after all this time that HP is unaware of this issue.

And for those new to this thread, the workaround is to mute the volume.

If using shut down why i bought tablet. Tablet should be Stanby mode. HP must fix this issue.
