I haven't seen the ghost touches in a while.  I updated to the latest BIOS like a month ago.  May be that helped it.

sadly having the same "ghost touching" on a  13 inch 4190nd x360.

First tought it was a vaulty install of Office i just did , but even after updateing to the latest  Bios an doing a full new install of win 10 incl the drivers of HP support it keeps happening evey day at leased two times after wakeing up the system.

Not so sure if this is the laptop for me anymore because i already lost a work becasue of this glitch.

Well, i am now on my 3rd HP spectre 360 i7 in 5 months and every one has suffered from ghost inputs. I have been through the scripted support process by HP which is to:

1. Update drivers and bios

2. Recalibrate the screen

3. Perform a hard reset of the device

None of thee steps have had any impact on the issue and the "ghost touches" have appeared on the left hand side of the screen either in the middle or 3/4 of the way down. It doesn't sound like a big deal, however if you are working in outlook or excel, it will jump to new folders and cells without you doing anything at all. At it's very worst it will prevent you from selecting any menu at all and result in having to do a hard reboot (press and hold the power button for 5 seconds).

The issue goes away after the hard reboot, only to resurface after a few hours. This laptop i am currently using has the same issue and amazingly when i was configuring the laptop out of the box, that dreaded ghost input was there to greet me like  along lost  friend. I  am at a loss as to what to do next as i really like the laptop, but can't continue to use a model that doesn't work. I am seriously considering getting a refund and swithching to Dell Although to get an XPS 13 will cost me more, at  least i can be sure of it working. I am not sure if the issue is affecting the latest Spectre that has come out, but i would be very unhappy paying $2800 for a laptop that is faulty, never mind the $2000 that i paid for this one!!

Sorry to hear about lost work & the pain of going through RMAs.  I decided to keep my Spectre because I figure if I RMA it, I'll get another refurbish any way, so what's the point.

I still believe this is Win10/driver related, because it always go away after a reboot.

I had Andy Android emulator installed.  Uninstalled that and it helped.  Didn't go away completely, but definitely helped.

The moment I know it's happening, time to save my work and reboot 😞

Forget about all the recalibration and cleaning crap, it won't help.  It's a capacitive touch screen.  My phone screen is dirtier than this laptop (which I use almost exclusively in laptop mode) and it doesn't do ghost touches :catfrustrated:

Just got off the phone with HP Support and they are issuing me with my 4th RMA. I wonder if the next one will have the same issues.......if it does, i will be sure to post an update here. Amazingly support checked and told me that there are no known issues. Perhaps that's because people have given up and just live with the  inconvenience, or they are not reading their own support forums!

Same phantom touch issue.  HP Spectre x360 13-4193nr.

For me, it was just a single spot in the bottom left hand corner.  After about an hour or two working on it, it started with the phantom touches.  Extremely rapid phantom touches in one spot over the search bar.  Reboot, stops it temporarily.  After some more use the same issue comes back.

Of course, disabling the HID-compliant touch screen in the Device Manager, disables the touch input completely and so the device becomes useable again (with a mouse), but this is far from satisfactory.

I'm hoping that I have found a solution, but only time will tell.  If this guy is right (and I think he might be), the HP Spectre x360 is not compatible with the Windows 10 Fast Startup (Shutdown Setting), turn it off and the ghost touches go away.

Windows 10 -> Control Panel -> Power Options -> Choose what the power button does -> Change settings that are currently unavailable -> Uncheck the box labeled [ ] Turn on fast startup (recommended) -> Save Changes -> Reboot -> cross fingers.

If it works for you, like this guy's video where I found this info:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Kc-gRurUL0

It's not been long enough to be sure yet for my issue is resolved.  Let me know if this works for you?

Wow, this is an infuriating issue.  Customer Service should have the solution for this, but from what I read on this forum, they do not know how to fix it.  How many returns are they getting I wonder?

Phantom or ghost touch problem fix for windows 8.1...after doing everything restart ur device...and u will be ready to go...i forgot to tell to reatart ur device after that u must follow steps and reastart after u done

It turns out that the problem was with that batch of macchines. I received my 5th new Spectre and there are no ghost touch problems at all. I am deighted that i refused to tolerate the issue and was proactive in making sure that i was issued with a RMA for every faulty machine. If i had given up i would have been stuck with a malfuntioniing unit. Never give up and don't listen to the tech's who say reinstal drivers, reset your machine etc. None of it made a difference to me. If it doen't work, send it back and get a replacement until you get one that works as it should!

Hi, I bought the HP Pavillion x360 convertible and I'm having the same ghost touches problem. The laptop is new!

it is just impossible to work with it.

if I have a spreadsheet open it will destroy all the configurations and the ghost touches are happening in several diferent places in the center of the screen.

Can someone from HP help me? How should I procceed?

Hi There,

As per my above message

You need to contact HP Support, insist on a RMA and get it replaced. It might take a couple of try's, however keep doing this until you get one that works. I know it is frustrating, however it is the only way not to be stuck with a $2000 lemon! I would also take a video of it happening so thar you can prove the issue should you need to.

Good luck and be persistent!

Cheers

Dan

Thank you Dan, I will try to find the HP representative here in Dubai. For sure it is not fair to pay a lot for a new laptop and get stuck with this kind of problem.

have a great day
