I work in the service department for a wireless carrier and am trying to test a treo battery but I need to know what the pin layout is on a palm battery, whch pins are positive and negative at what voltage ratings. The model is a 157-10014-00 its rated at 3.7V, 1800mAh(min)

thanks,

I know you said you "work in a service department", but I'm curious - are you a Technician??

Most techs I know can tell the polarity on a battery very easily using a VOM.

What's the voltage? Well, since the battery states "3.7vdc", it should be at least that when new and charged up!

I don't have that exact battery, but the Centro has the same vdc rating. It tested at 3.95vdc with the Palm logo UP from point A to point C.

I am a service technician, we actually repair cell phones in house, unlike the major carriers.

The treo 600/700/755 all use a 6 pin/tab layout.

Since the battery is nearly completely dead the readouts from a multi-meter runs down quickly to about .70 volts and depending on which tabs it varies what the voltage starts running down from.

But it runs down so quick its hard to tell.

What I did figure out was

Palm Logo facing

A B C D E F

+ - - - + +

or

A B C D E F

- + + + - -

I really can't remember off the top of my head, but assuming from what you posted I'd have to say its the first one.

thanks for the response,

WyreNut When you say Palm logo facing up do you mean the battery laying with the logo on "heads" and at the top left"upper" corner?

Thanks

Correct.  As you look at the battery, the Palm logo is looking back at you!  :smileywink:

Thanks WyreNut! Just to clarify, the terminals would be across the bottom and the Palm logo at the top left? If so, then the terminal on the left is the positive and the right one is negative?

Thanks
