I'd be glad to turn off system sounds. I find the sound of the go-back button on the homescreen most annoying. I've only been able to turn off the sounds of the virtual keyboard. Any idea?

Go into the Settings app, select Device>Sound and un-check Touch Sounds.

Glad that helped...I'm still learning my way around the Slate and Android, so your post also helped me
Cheers!

Thanks
Go back to the Settings app;
Scroll down to Language and Input.
Under the Default heading, to the right of Google Keyboard tap the "settings" icon.
Un-check "Sound on keypress"
Hope that does it for you, let us know.
