The laptop is typing in a PIN by itself when I sign on to the computer. It will say PIN Is Incorrect and then it will let me type in the correct PIN. I also cannot type using the laptop's keyboard because I either get a bunch of gibberish or it will go to the Project Screen option. I have uninstalled the keyboard in Device Manager so that it would reset itself when I restarted the laptop but the problem still remains.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the keyboard was working fine?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

I don't remember when the keyboard was last working correctly. I don't know of any hardware or software updates other than whatever ones Windows did.

@MrAllanson,

Thank you for the information.

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I would like to inform you that this issue usually occurs when there is a virus or a malware on your computer.

I recommend you to run a full scan on your computer and make sure there are no virus or malware. For malware, you can also use malware bite and run that on your computer.

If the issue persists, then follow the steps in the below article.

I seem to have this issue come up whenever Windows 10 decides to do an update or if the computer is shut down or goes into sleep mode. Right now when I sign on using a PIN instead of the cursor moving like it's supposed to, it keeps going back to the beginning of the entry box. When I go into a browser it sometimes scrolls to the bottom by itself. I have to press delete on the keyboard and then I'm able to type and scroll freely.  Since I can't stop Windows 10 from updating I don't know what to do about this. I have scanned my computer and it is clean.
