disable touchbap when USB mouse connected on HP Spectre (new info)

To disable the touchpad while USB mouse is connected: Although there is a previous thread on this topic, the solutions offered did not work for me. Different computers must be set up different ways. On my 2019 HP Spectre x360 15t, here's what worked: Type “Synaptics” in the Windows search box to open the Synaptics Pointing Device dialog box. Then check the box to “Disable internal pointing device when external USB pointing device is attached.” NOTE: it did not work for me to type “touchpad” in Windows search box because that opened the generic Touchpad Settings dialog box which did not offer this option.
