forgot login password/code what to do?

What kind of Windows login are you using? There a Microsoft account to login to your computer that would also access your Outlook.com  account, or there's a Local account (not linked to a MS account).

 

If you have the first, you can login from any computer to the MS account and change it, if you know the security questions you set up.

Go to this link and follow the prompts.

https://account.live.com/resetpassword.aspx

 

If you have a Local account and did not set up a password reset media, you will have to recover Windows back to factory settings. You will lose your data if its not already backed up.

If you still are using Windows 8.1...

  • Press and hold the Volume Down button and Power button for several seconds until a menu appears.
  • Choose F11 for recovery and follow the instructions.
  • Be sure to have the power cable plugged in during the recovery.
