I reviewed the case regarding issues with typing exponential. I will be delighted to assist you here.

 

Superb description, brilliant troubleshooting and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. 😉

 

For better clarity and to assist you correctly, I would require more information regarding this:

 

Are you using any software like ms word or excel?

 

Meanwhile try the steps given below:

 

Well, Instead of ctrl, You could try Shift and the number 6. This should do the trick. 😉

 

Let me know how that pans out.
