Hi @DonnaLec,

Thanks for stopping by the HP forums. A very good day to you. I reviewed the post about the HP stream Notebook not charging. It will be a delight to assist you with this. Smiley Happy

Brilliant description, superb troubleshooting and splendid diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. Smiley Happy You are a valued HP customer and I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. Smiley Happy

For better clarity and to assist you better, I would require more information regarding this.

  • Did this happen after a power surge or power outage?
  • Have you checked if other USB devices get recognized by the USB port?

I would suggest that you use an original HP charging cable and charger as the one that you originally received is not working and multiple chargers and USB cables have been tried and still, the notebook does not charge.

It looks like a hardware issue with the notebook.

Please try these steps for a start.

  • Perform a hard reset on the notebook.
  • Then try different wall outlets.
  • Please try to run diagnostics on the HP stream USB port and the complete diagnostics also.

Link for hard reset: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768

Steps for running diagnostics:

  • The HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu is displayed.
  • Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
  • Turn on the computer and immediately press the F2 key repeatedly, about once every second.

Then use this link to run the complete system diagnostics: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03467259 and follow the option “Testing using HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) “ Please make a note of a failure code for any failed component. Please run the component check for USB and battery.

The battery or the USB charging port may be faulty here.

Please keep me posted. I will keep a watch for your response.

Hope this helps.  Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Smiley Happy  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you.  Smiley Happy

What country in the world are you located in DonnaLec? I'm in England but I imported my Stream 8 (model 5901) from America and different countries use different chargers. The Stream Tablets are very picky about the chargers (and charge cables) that are used with them. Eg connecting an old 1 amp phone charger with its cable to either of my Stream tablets wont charge the battery.
