Tried all the suggested solutions, including pressing variopus button combos, different charging cords. this was the suggestion that worked.

I think the software is glichy and what works on one HP won't work on another, and visa versa.

working and charging now though

I was able to get the touchpad to work after a few steps.

1. I left the device plugged in for hours using the original cord , nothing

2. I used a Kindle cord with the Touchpad power supply, nothing

3. I pressed all the buttons many times in many varying ways, still nothing

Once in a while I noticed the flashing on the home button stopped after holding the home button and the power button for around ten seconds. I would always try to turn on the device at that point and the button would start flashing again. On the last attempt I noticed the flashing had stopped (power button and home button) and without pressing any buttons I allowed the device to charge overnight. I awoke to a fully functining touchpad.

I have tried pressing and holding down the power button- it didn't work, I also tryed to reset my TouchPad by pressing and holding down the power button and the button in the middle. I gave it many tries and at this point I feel very discouraged. The screen would light up and the picture of the power cord would appear, but my device wouldn't charge. Any othe advice? Pls help, I love my tablet

Where is this small black hard reset button?  Does anyone have a picture of it?  I can't seem to find it.

HP Recommended

There is not a "small black hard reset button" on theTouchPad.  There are only combinations of the power button, the Center Button at the bottom center of the front of the device, and the volume rocker switch on the right side (top) of the device.

According to someone else with a bunch of prototype webOS hardware, there is a small reset button, but only inside the case.

webOS Nation frequenter and homebrew developer. Also game reverse engineer. Check out some of my stuff.

I may offer links to homebrew solutions. HP does not officially support homebrew solutions, and you use them at your own risk.
