Hi I got an HP ENVY X2 11-g030ea 2-in-1 hybrid laptop, it was on windows 8.1 until I upgraded to windows 10 a few months ago. It worked fine until last week when somehow, its headphone jack has stopped working, the audio was fine but the headphone jack produced no sound. So I went onto the HP support website and attempted to download and re-install the --Intel/Realtek Chipset, Graphics, Camera and Audio Driver Pack (version 6.2.9200.PR15)-- in the hope of it might fix the issue. However after the installation and system restart, this is what greeted me upon the screen lit back up in blue--
"RECOVERY
Your PC/Device needs to be repaired
The operating system couldn't be loaded because a critical system driver is missing or contains errors.
File:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\ChaabiDrivers.sys
Error code: 0xc000007b
You'll need to use recovery tools. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your PC administrator or PC/Device manufacturer."
Unfortunate I don't have any installation disc or recovery USB, and not whiz enough to go beyond this page and fix it myself, so any advice or help are very much welcomed!! Many thanks in advance. 🙂

Hello liquidmoon
Sorry to hear about the trouble.
Fortunately with Windows 10, you can make your own recovery relatively easy.
You will need an 8 GB USB pen drive.
Download the Windows Media Creation Tool onto another computer and install it.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10/
Then use it to create a Windows 10 Home 32 bit installer.
You might need to go into the Bios of the Envy X2 and make a small change before installing Windows.
- At power up, rapidly tap the F10 key for the Bios.
- Arrow over to System Configuration / Boot Options and arrow down to Secure Boot to highlight it.
- Press Enter.
- Choose Disable.
- Save and exit (F10).
- On restart, you will be prompted to enter a code via the onscreen keyboard.Enter the code and hit Enter. Note: It will not show what you are typing. This is normal.
- The tablet will restart without Secure Boot and you will be able to boot from the USB drive. To re-enable Secure Boot, repeat the process. But this time, you will not be prompted to enter a security code.
Now plug the USB drive into the X2. Also have the power cord connected.
At power up, rapidly tap the F9 key to bring up the boot options window.
Choose the USB drive to boot from.
Windows will load and install. Follow the prompts.
As Windows configures, it will reboot several times.
The first time the computer reboots, quickly remove the USB drive so the install will continue. Otherwise Windows may try to start the process all over again.
Give Windows time to update also. You can initiate the process by going to Action Center> All Settings> Update and Security.
Let me know of you need further help.

Hi thank you very much for the advice, I done as you instructed and now my hp envy x2 is running again. However my original problem still persists-- my headphone jack still delivers no sound. Whenever I plugged my headphone into it, the audio on the speakers continues and doesn't switch to the headphone mode.
When I right clicked on the sound icon on the bottom right of task bar and brought up the sound menu, my speakers are shown as "intel SST Audio Device (WDMI)". and there are no headphone or any other sound device/drivers beneath it. Although this HP Envy hybrid is supposed to come with BeatAudio, I can't seem to locate it either, even when I tried the search option, the Beat Audio device/drivers can not be found within my laptop device. So I wonder if this has something to do with the headphone issue? Or it is another separate problem to tackle?
I have also tried the "troubleshoot sound problems" option by right clicked on the sound icon. Upon the completion of troubleshooting, the only issue it had located was "Generic Audio Driver Detected", with a triangled exclamation mark next to it. However, everything listed under the "Potential issues that were checked" were marked as "issue not present". I have checked the Windows Audio and Windows Audio End Point Builder and they are both running. So I am at my wit's end. Like I have mentioned previously, my last solution was to try to reinstall the -Intel/Realtek Chipset, Graphics, Camera and Audio Driver Pack (version 6.2.9200.PR15), but that somehow led to the error 0xc000007b, and even now the headphone issue remains. Can you kindly help me solve this problem as well please? Many thanks 🙂

Well the chipset drivers are really for windows 8.1 so I don't know if they would work in Win10 without causing some problem.
Windows is fully updated, correct?
If you right click the volume icon and choose Playback devices, you don't see the headphone jack in the list, correct?
Go to the Device Manger> Sound, video and game controllers. What is listed? Can you right click on it and choose update?
What happens?
If it has a yellow caution sign next to it, uninstall it and restart the computer.
Also check under System devices for any yellow caution signs.
The Audio drivers used should be the generic Windows 10 built in drivers.
The Beat Audio software is only going to work in Windows 8.1 using the HP Recovery media.
It may have carried over when you upgraded to 10 but it wont be available after a clean install of 10.
I don't think installing the Realtek Driver and Utility will help, but cant hurt.
Realtek Choose 32bits Vista, Windows7, Windows8, Windows8.1, Windows10 Driver only (Executable file)
Restart, right click the Realtek manager in the Tool Tray and open the Sound manager.
Does it show anything when headphones are plugged in?
Either Windows 10 is playing foul with your audio hardware or something physically failed on the circuit board.
Im guessing the latter.

I will add, if the headphone jack is not working still...
If you choose to revert back to Windows 8.1 to get Beats Audio back, you will have to use the HP Recovery media that you should have burned a copy of when the PC was new.
If you dont have a copy, you would have to purchase a new set from HP Support directly.
Contact HP Worldwide | HP® Official Site
NOTE:
IF the PC originally came with Windows 8 installed (not 8.1), the recovery media will only install Windows 8 again as it was from factory. You would have to go through the update process all over again.
