I have owned my current split for about two months now. this one was an upgrade from my old laptop the original old sliver and balck split x2.
Well shortly after I bought it the track pad went out. no biggy i have a wireless mouse and the usbs still work so meh.
Then one of my usb plugs stopped working... again meh.
but then the keyboard stopped working and almost imidiatly after the last usb went with it.
Im pretty savy so I looked in to it. I read all the fourms I updated all the drivers. I checked my devices and I noticed all my 'dock based devices (usbs keyboars track pad)' were all disconnected. I restored windows and ran HPs chipset update.
I even blew in the connector (worked on my old split x2). One of the posts suggested completely draining the batteries so I did that. nothing has worked. I never noticed any of the lights on the keyboard flickering but apparently thats a tell tail of the internal dock battery dying. Some people mentioned when the battery goes so does all functionality, plugged in or not.
So what should I try next? Do you think its the internal battery? Has anybody else had this exact issue or am I all alone here? HELP!

ITS FIXED!
the issue was indeed as described. the femail end connector did short and it was the culperate. Since then full usability has been restored. The whole fix was about 20 minutes of work, 8 dollars, and 4 shipping days. I purchased my computer used so I dont kow the whole story but I assume the root of the problem is a mix of humity and instability in the tablet structure design. I encourage everyone to try this themselves it they are without warenty. The whole job requires a small and a tiny phillips screw drivers plus a pic or plastic pry for the dissassembly. Refrance the used service guide and avoid IFIXIT they seem to be lacking quality information on this device.
heres the link to the service guide.

I'm assuming this is the problem. Above is the chip that connects the tablet to the dock. This is the female portion (located with in the tablet). It appears to have shorted. I disassemble my split x2 using the authorized service guide. When it was apart the problem what very viable. I used the part index within the guide to get the part number and ordered a new OEM one through a 3rd party retailer. Awaiting the part right now I'll update when I have more info.
Part number:
765992-001
About $5-$20 dependent where to shop and whether or not you need new ribbon cables.
