kyle_b ... ditto on that.

And also start installing programs like ccleaner on a Micro SD card instead of the C drive to save more space.

Make the User folders default to the SD card also.

Stupid question here, but what exactly is meant by "with bing installation". And how and what do I need to install?

Mr/Mrs Photoray ...

Photoray,

I was planning to move programs to memory card when I had bought a memory card. I didn't seriously think it was going to make that much difference right about now, nor did I envision having to mess about so much just to install Windows 10.

I may just do a factory reset of 8.1 and leave it at that. Surely, it isn't supposed to be this much messing about to do an upgrade. It wasn't on my other tablet!

Before I start doing factory resets and stuff, I want to make sure I have my Windows Product Key, etc. Where do I find them? Is there supposed to be a piece of paper in the box with it on or is it preinstalled? If preinstalled, wll it work again if I do a factory reset?

After having read, several times, the instructions for Windows 10 install. I'm confused as anything here. Am I supposed to be a USB image of 8.1 AND 10? Or does having a recovery image on my stream mean I don't need to make a USB image of 8.1?

Had to work and wasn't available....

Installing programs to the Micro SD card is just good space management considering your drive is 32 GB total.

I also do this on my desktop where my C:drive is an SSD and my 2nd drive is an HDD. It saves space on the SSD and helps it last longer (in theory). Im always installing crap to test so I don't eat up the SSD.

The Bing naming scheme is just Microsoft’s way of differentiating the free version they give to OEM’s for lightweight/inexpensive devices like Tablets over Win 10 Home/Pro which still costs OEM’s. It's a tiny bit smaller in size than the Home version.

The equivalent of "with Bing" is called Windows 10 Home Single Language when you use the MS Media Creation Tool to create the ISO file. Single Language is Microsofts stupid naming scheme that makes no sense, I will agree.

Heres the link to the creation tool setup.

Installing Windows 10 using the media creation tool - Windows Help

Since you already have windows 10 now on your Stream Tablet, It is now registered with Microsoft as being upgraded.

When you Clean Install Windows 10 again, it will see that its legally upgraded already when it connects to the internet.

As far as the original key is concerned, HP Windows OS keys are embedded into the Bios now so no sticker is necessary.

Windows see the bios key when installing.

Photoray,

I understand pretty much everything you're saying. I don't, however, think that I have Win10 on my system now as it would not install. It downloaded and TRIED to install but wouldn't due to lack of avalable space.

I'm also unsure as to whether or not I am supposed have an image of Win 8.1as well as 10 ...

Thanks for your help, btw. I appreciate the time you're taking.

This is just frustrating as I expect things I spend $250 on to work. At this rate, Ill just be doing a factory rest of 8.1 and be leaving it at that, I think. Well, I would, if someone would tell me HOW!

If you go to This PC (computer) and either right click on it or press and hold till the options box opens, choose properties.

A window will open and will tell you what the OS is.

I gotta run busy busy today sorry. be back soon to finish.

So not knowing what you have, if you have windows 8.1 on the tablet, you need to upgrade first (not clean install).

The link I gave earlier for the media creation tool will also upgrade the system the first time.

You need to choose Upgrade this PC in the options.

As kyle_b was saying earlier, you will need to make room for the upgrade first.

Uninstall all the extra programs and move any personal files over to the Micro SD card if you have one.

Delete, move or uninstall anything you can to free up about 12 GB of total space.

Then run the Media Creation Tool with Upgrade this PC.

IF you already upgraded to Windows 10 and want to now do a clean reinstall, you can use the Media Creation Tool to create a bootable USB Pendrive (4 GB minimum) to install from (using an OTG Cable). It will be easier to make one from a Desktop/laptop PC. Make sure the pen drive is empty first as it will get wiped during the creation.

Once its made and with the tablet powered off, insert the bootable drive with OTG cable into the Micro SD port.

Press and hold the Power Button and the Volume Down button simultaneously until a boot options screen appears.

Choose F11 and follow the prompts to boot from the pen drive and Install Windows.

After installation, you will want to install the drivers for Windows 10 for your model Tablet.

You can pre load them onto the Micro SD card for quick access.

IS this what you are looking for? Let me know.

Also if you give me the exact model number of your X360, I will give you the link to the drivers if needed.

That's just it! I don't have anything on the device. i only switched it on for the first time on Thursday. The only personal things I have on there are the five programs i installed. Believe me, deleting those won't clear up enough space for me to have 12GB free.

It's ridiculous!  i know it's not your fault, but I'm completely and utterly flabbergasted and frustrated by this whole situation. It's pathetic.

I have 8.1 64bit

How can i upgrade if I don't have enough space and deleting what few programs (the ONLY personal stuff) I have on there won't clear enough space?

I have now deleted everything "personal" and I have a massive 3.45GB of space available....

I have an 11-p015wm

Just tell me how to do a factory reset back to 8.1  and ill forget Win10 .. Way too much hassle downloading this program or that program, having to uninstall stuff, move stuff to this USB drive or that USB drive, and having to upgrade then reinstall and all this... Just tell me how to do a factory reset and I'll take it back to walmart and get my money back on it.

This is utterly ridiculous ... and way too complicated for beginners. I don't consider myself dumb when it comes to computers, I just don't want to end up with a $250 brick.
