Actually on the HP Stream 7 tablet you can use a 64GB Micro card.  I put one in a week ago and it see 61GB.  I have not had any issues at all with it.

I have a 3-1 Micro USB to female USB adaptor ordered and will try it as soon as it comes in

I have found a good solution to the charge and use USB peripherals question.  I have owned several low end Windows tablets recently (they are cheap and I like playing around with them).  They all have this same issue and the real fix is the Pluggable dock but as many have indicated, it is expensive considering the cost of the tablet.  For my previous tablets, I used a rather convoluted USB solution with a Y-cable and it worked... sort of.  It could not exactly charge my tablet but it would allow it to run for days without requiring a charge.  Basically, it almost kept up with usage.

On to my new solution...  I just received a "Dell MicroUSB Dongle for Data and Charging" (Yes, that is the name of the product).  It is a $20 purchase that gives you a way to connect MicroUSB power and have a full size USB port (which can then be connected to an individual device or a powered hub).  It is essentially what my cable mess does in a nice sleek design.  HOWEVER, when I connected my HP Stream 7, it didn't indicate from the OS that it was charging.  However, I left it connected overnight and my tablet was fully charged.  Therefore it is close but not perfect.  There are some aspects where the OS wants you connected to AC power and checks to ensure you have it connected, this won't work for that but it seems it will work for everything else.

I will play around with it some more, but thought I would share my discovery for those who are looking.  I will report more when I have had more time to test.

The Stream 7 works fine with a 64GB MicroSD, if it can use a card over 32GB, it automatically means it uses SD 3.0 and supports cards up to 2TB (if they existed).

USB OTG also puts out a full 0.5A so I was able to spin up and access a 100GB hard drive rated at 0.48A via a USB/SATA bridge.

Interesting fact, the Stream 7 has a USB 3.0 controller (not surprising since it's part of the 4th gen Intel chipset), but a USB 2.0 port. This limits USB OTG to 480mbps instead of 5gbps. Kind of dissapointed with HP for not putting a Micro USB 3.0 port in the Stream 7.

I'll have to see if I can install one myself, the extra traces from the controller may or may not exist on the motherboard.

Hello to all,

It's possible to use the Dell dongle to charge and use a flash drive at the same time.

In this tablet you can use up to 64 GB micro SD card. It works very well!

Have a nice day!
