Good Evening,

I have a calculator HP50 and I am new to this.
so here is my simple question: how to I save a simple text or even a sentence on my calculator?
Lets say: "Good evening everyone nice to meet you"
Can I tap that text directly in my calculator and save it and what are the steps to do so?

Thank you in advance!

Hi! @asdf3:

In RPN you can create global variable and label with any name.

p.e. :

1: << "Good evening everyone nice to meet you" >>

'Label name' STO

Then you have stored in HOME (VAR), this variable.

If you needed back-up, you can copy to port 2 (Flash) or if have SD, in port 3, with FILES.

Too, see ... https://youtu.be/cv3KwqycuYU

In SysRPL ... see, the tutorial's, from ... http://www.hpcalc.org/details/1758 and ... http://www.hpcalc.org/details/5142

In calculator language a text is called a string, and you always have to enter it between double brackets.

The double brackets sign is at the upper right side of the multiplication key (in red).

When you press it you get 2 of them.

You proceed as follows: first press double brackets (so right Shift – multiplication sign), next type your text, and then press Enter.

After this you can store it into a variable as you would do with numbers.

If you do not know how to do this either I think you have to start at the beginning of the user manual, or read page 2-50.

I just found out that in chapter 23 of the manual there is some more information about strings.

Pretty late!
