HP Chromebook 11A G8 Education Edition
Chrome OS

I have a 32GB Chromebook that is always at 30GB full. Even after a power wash, or using the Chromebook reset usb tool. Logging in with a guest account, or an actual user. I have multiple others of the same model and they sit under 10GB after a power wash.

Does anyone have any other ideas of how or why it will not clear the drive? It makes the device almost unusably slow after logging in and a couple extensions load.

Thanks,

Dustin

Hi@Dustin707,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing drive issues with the HP Chromebook 11A G8 Education Edition.

I have a few recommendations

  • Go to chrome://drive-internals [<----type that into the Browser], scroll down the page to Metadata, and press the "clear local data" button. Restart the machine..
  • Delete files you don't need from your Chromebook. Remember that you can move files to Google Drive if you want more space.
  • Clear your browsing data and download history.
  • Uninstall apps you're not using.
  • Remove any extra user accounts from your Chromebook.

If you're almost out of disk space, a message will show that says, "Device is low on space: Free up space or select data may be automatically deleted." You might also have problems with:

  • Downloading files
  • Loading webpages
  • Changing or saving settings, like passwords
  • Adding new user accounts to your Chromebook
  • Using Android apps

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
