The User's Manual for the hp Prime calculator says that data in variables will not be deleted when resetting the calculator. This holds true for built-in variables, such as those named by "X" or "C", but doesn't for user-created ones, such as "CC1". On both my G2 and my earlier Prime, resetting them by either inserting a paperclip into the rear hole or by pressing the "On" +"Symb" keys erases the contents of all user-created variables; in fact, it even makes the calculator forget that they are variables.
Is there a simple work-around for this (other than re-storing the desired values into the variables)? If not, I suggest that hp include a fix for it in the next Prime software update.
