How can I get my return completed without the run-around / robot interface? It has taken since 12/24/to get an RMA ... not yet done.

The Community does not have a way to influence the process.
We are not associated with the HP Store or the Store Customer Service.
Whatever you do must be completed through the Store Customer Service.
Just checked the HP Store USA Customer Service - looks like there is phone, live chat, and email support.
That said,
