HP Office Jet 8620
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Upon Running Windows Update (now for over a period of eight days) after multiple attempts, I continue to receive "Failed Installation" for the most recent HP update.   I have made no recent system hardware or software changes on my laptop.

Any idea how I might resolve this annoying problem or remove "this" update only from the Windows Update.  I do "NOT" wish to disable all Non-Microsoft OS software updates from my Automatic Windows Update.

Any assistance would be most appreciated.  Thanks

On that update thats listed in the updates window, have you right clicked on the update and chosen to Hide the update?

That stops the update from the installation process until you UnHide it again.

Thanks.  Hiding the Update is exactly the information I needed to prevent windows from constantly notifying me that I have updates.  As my HP products are functioning just fine without the update, I am not going to dwell on why the update will not install.  Suffice it to say - I am pleased that I now know how to "Hide" particular updates.

My Thanks to Photoray002 for the solution.

Suppressing the update is useful.

It would be better to somehow get the update to actually install correctly.

(I have no trouble with updates on my Linux systems but Windows updates have often  failed and too often failed mysteriously.)

Thanks for your comment - as it applies to applying the Important HP Security Update on my computer.  I have disabled notifications and auto-update for my Windows Operating System on my Laptop for this update, to avoid the frustration of repeated failures to install on my Samsung using Windows 7 Home Professional  version.   I have not had this issue on any other platform using other versions of Windows.  I have attempted to identify the cause for this failure, because I dislike arbitrarily disabling critical or important security updates.  However - since I have failed to isolate the cause of the problem and since I do not use this lap top outside of my home - I am hopeful that by using other adequate firewall protections I will be fine.

Sorry but IGNORING a fault ,is NO solution (to my mind), although it could be a momentarily workaround! Or  did anyone stop All it's MS-Upddates because the have fault's inside once in a while???

Has anyone found any MS Links to this? or a real MS-Forum-Solution?

@nesch52

HP Support doesnt hold a presence here directly as they are a separate entity.

Microsoft updates is apparently rolling out this year old update as it sees you have an HP printer connected and for what ever reason it fails.

Fortunately your are using Windows 7 and can hide the update that fails.

If you have your printer models drivers up-to-date by downloading the software directly from HP (not MS), you should be good to go.

If you still desire a Microsoft forum answer, I suggest you go to the Microsoft forum and ask.

IF this is not satisfactory, you need to start your own thread as this one is marked Solved.

But do so in the HP Printer section as this is the HP Tablet section. 😉
