Slatebook x2
Android 8.0 Oreo and older

Just a broad question or two .

Is it  possible to convert an old  HP  Slatebook  x2  to Chrome OS or Linux  and retain functionality  in matters like touchpads and sd card slots?

Best regards, Doug.

@Dougmad

The problems with putting any other OS on it is (1) how to install -- since the tablet will not boot from the media, and (2) general lack of drivers in Chrome or Linux.  You are welcome to do web searches on your own, but we do not provide support here for such ventures.

Hello there @Dougmad

While the OS on your HP  Slatebook  x2 is "Open Source" the ability to make changes beyond simple supported application installation is not open.

Put simply there is no "Plug and Play" method to upgrade your device.  For a skilled IT user there are ways to upgrade but if you get it wrong you'll end up with a "BRICK" as it's known so as they say "User Be Warned".

With that said you can run Linux on your Android as a virtual machine. Instructions are here

Good luck

Cheers
