Are you facing a No Audio or Low Volume issue on your Poly Blackwire Headsets? If yesClick here to view the solution!
HP Recommended

Greetings - At the beginning of a conversation on my Poly Blackwire 5220 USB headset, I can hear myself, as well as the person I'm speaking to. But a few moments into the conversation, it's like I put my fingers in my ears, or went into a padded room! I can NO LONGER hear myself. So, it's VERY difficult to have a conversation this way. This series doesn't have the side-tone feature. So, I'm not sure what the issue is. It STARTS fine, but then something happens. Thanks for your help. And, the Technology feature in the device control area is disabled already. So, that's not the issue.

Hello @PastorD1, Welcome to the HP Poly Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the Poly Blackwire 5220.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please try a few troubleshooting steps provided below so that I can assist you further?

  • Listening volume is too low. Press the volume up button on the headset. Ensure that the volume setting on your computer is set accurately.
  • The headset may not be set as the default audio device. Use the audio settings in your sound control panel/preferences to select your headset as the default audio device.
  • Ensure that your 3.5 mm connector is fully connected to the headset controller.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Greetings to you! Yes, all of the suggestions you mentioned are secured and correct, EXCEPT that my connection is USB, not 3.5mm. When I initially begin the call, I can hear myself. Then, about a minute into the call, it sounds like I put my fingers in my ears because my voice in my headset goes away. So it seems like I'm yelling to the person on the other end of the call because I cannot hear myself any longer. It's quite a weird feeling.

Thank you for your support and thoughts regarding this.

Thank you so much for the response. @PastorD1

  • Please connect the Poly Blackwire 5220 to the PC and check for any firmware updates and update them if there are any.

  • Please restore the headset settings to default on the Poly Lens application by connecting the headset to the PC. Once done please switch off and switch on the headset again to save the changes made.
