After I got this system I installed Windows 10 (64-bit) on it. As soon as it completed I was surprised to see that my on board LAN was not working. Opening its properties from the device manager I witnessed the error saying "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" and no adapter was available on the adapter options page. But when I saw the rear panel of the machine I can clearly see the Ethernet lights on the LAN blinking and working. After searching for solutions on the internet I came to know that this issue could be connected to wrong BIOS configuration.
I restarted the PC and landed on BIOS and there I saw a problem with the System IDs page which was all blank but only UUID and Family name was filled and they too were editable. I searched the internet for the solutions and was able to collect all the information that I need to input on the System IDs page in the BIOS. Some of the information like SKU Number, Build ID and Feature Byte I got them from the HP PartSurfer website and information like System Board CT, Asset Tag and Chassis Serial Numbers were found on the tags.
Now the problems I am facing in entering these information in the BIOS are:
1. Some of the information on PartSurfer website is not exactly what it was printed on the tags.
2. Feature Byte is not validating. I always come across the error saying "Invalid Data: Feature Byte".
3. The UUID of the system is invalid. (Details below)
4. The Mac Address of the LAN in BIOS is set to FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF. (Details Below)
Current State of the System IDs page in the BIOS:
1. Enter Asset Tag: [I entered Serial Number from the Tag here]
2. Enter Ownership Tag: [Left Blank]
3. Enter UUID: [1E4EDC00-457B-11EA-BC80-FFFFFFFFFFFF] (Invalid)
4. Product Name: [HP EliteDesk 800 G1 TWR]
5. Enter Family Name: [103C_53307F G=D]
6. SKU Number: [(Product Number)#ABA]
Note: Product Number is listed on PartSurfer without #ABA.
7. System Board CT Number: [Found a tag on motherboard and I entered its number here]
8. Enter Build ID: [13WWCDEW601#SAB4#DAB4] (Copied from PartSurfer)
Note: Build ID is listed on tag as 13wwCDEW6#SUUF#DUUF.
9. Enter Feature Byte: [Blank cause its not validating]
Note:
Feature Byte on PartSurfer = 2U3E3X47676J6S6b7B7H7M7Q7T7W7a7j7magb7.A
Feature Byte on Tag = 2u3E3x47676j96s6b7B7H7M7Q7T7w7a7j7magb7
I tried both of them but none of them is working.
LAN Port Configuration Info in BIOS:
1. UEFI Driver: Intel(R) Gigabit 0.0.18
2. Adapter PBA: FFFFFF-OFF
3. Chip Type: Intel PCH LPT
4. PCI Device ID: 153A
5. PCI Address: 00:19:00
6. Link Status: Connected
7. MAC Address: FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF
What I need to know:
1. Do I need to correctly fill all the fields in the System IDs page before attempting to fill the Feature Byte?
2. Why my UUID is invalid and how can I fix that? (Its editable)
3. What Should I do if something is listed differently on PartSurfer/HP Support than the tags on my device?
4. The length of my Feature Byte is somewhat shorter than what I found as examples on the internet. I also heard that there may be space in the end of this number or there may be some problems with the upper case or lower case letters. Any expert advice on this issue?
Any help in resolving this issue would be highly appreciated.
Thanks!
