Desktop Hardware and Upgrade Questions

I have a M.2 as my O/S its only 256GB and running out of room. I'm going to upgrade to a samsung 970 pro M.2  NVMe SSD 1TB. Can I also change out disk 2 which is a HDD To an Samsung 970 pro SSD? In other words can I have two of the same disks. I would appreciate some input here because I am all ready to do this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
