HP 280 G1 MicroTower Business PC, Model No.K8K36EA#ABU
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

The model number of my desktop computer is K8K36EA#ABU and the motherboard part number is 782450-001, Rev 0E.

Three weeks ago, I decided to upgrade the operating system to Windows 10.  Before I could do so, a pop-up message from the HP Support Assistant notified a recommended BIOS update - so I used the HP Support Assistant utility to download and update the BIOS.

The installer seemed to verify that everything was OK but once the computer restarted, the light on the optical drive flashed and the computer beeped a few times.  Then, it remained powered up with a black screen.  It would not respond to the keyboard or to the mouse and all subsequent attempts to reboot produced the same result.

In an attempt to repair the BIOS, I downloaded SP99326.exe softpaq (BIOS version 80.30A) to another computer.  Then, I created a USB recovery stick.  However, the failed computer does not recognise the USB recovery stick and I cannot even use the ESC key to access the BIOS configuration.

I shall appreciate any advice.
