HP 8200 Elite Small Form Factor PC
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Ran SA-00086 to determine the Meltdown/Spectre vulnerability status of the Intel processor in the PC, which provided the following assessment:

Based on the analysis performed by this tool:  Detection Error:  This system may be vulnerable, either the Intel(R) MEI/TXEI driver is not installed (available from your system manufactue, or the system manufacturer does not permit access to the ME/TXE from the host driver.

The provided link states:

A: A status of may be Vulnerable is usually seen when either of the following drivers aren't installed:

  • Intel® Management Engine Interface (Intel® MEI) driver
or
  • Intel® Trusted Execution Engine Interface (Intel® TXEI) driver

Contact your system or motherboard manufacturer to obtain the correct drivers for your system.

The processor is an I-5 2500.  I also have an HP 6200 PRO equipped with an I-5 2400, which is stated as not vulnerable.  Am I missing a driver for the 8200?  Thanks for any assistance.

P.S.-On Windows 7, can I skip the Windows update for this vulnerability if the system checks out with this tool?  I checked updates, and no update has been offered yet, although I have managed to find and download it, should it be required.

Also, is there a tool for updating drivers that would help resolve this issue?  Couldn't identify the download in the list of drivers for this model here on the HP site.
