This isn't so much a call for assistance on an issue but rather a post to bring awareness to an issue people have that is easily remedied. I bought my HP Omen 27i back on Black Friday and have thoroughly enjoyed using it for the past few weeks, but several days ago I noticed that my brightness settings were resetting themselves shortly after startup and my backlight was coming on as well. I was completely stumped on why this was happening and altering all the settings I could immediately see and swapping out the cables did nothing to stop this issue.
I noticed another user on here by the name of Bootycheeks had the same issue as me and got no answer for this several months ago. . A quick use of the search bar brought me to the culprit; the OMEN Gaming Hub. Without my knowledge, this program was installed on my computer BY MY MONITOR and had been reverting my manual changes to the monitor to its own default settings.
I have since uninstalled the program and everything has been right as rain; no random changes to my monitors setting thus far. I'm quite curious as to why HP thought it a good idea to have their products do this shady sort of installation behind my back as if it's inserting malware into my computer, but I doubt I'll get an answer to that. I want this post to stand as a solution for others who may be experiencing the same issue as me and can't figure out why their settings keep getting reverted every time they start their computer back up.
