Product: HP Omen
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My machine crashed when trying to enable virtualization. 

I chose to factory reset after using the HP utility to backup the files. 

After reset, I tried restoring the files. 

The restore.exe failed with ffffff18.  It didn't matter if I selected one of the backed up items or all of them. 

After I ran all the HP and Windows updates, I tried again and the restore worked. 

 

I suspect the problem is that the HP Recovery Manager version I used to create the backup wasn't compatible with the HP Recovery Manager version after the reset.
