HP Pavilion Desktop - 550-203na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So this started happening about 6 months ago (maybe a year) and it's just getting more frequent. And yes, the computer is out of warranty.

The computer is fine, however, it occasionally decides it can't access the internet anymore. The wireless card still works as it can access the router and indeed print to the wireless printer, I can also access the router webpage. Other devices can access the internet without issue via the same router.

I have tried using wired connections, usb wifi dongles, tethering to my phone for internet access, reinstalling drivers and all of these yield the same result of not being able to access the internet.

I have googled the heck out of it and done everything from turning it off and on again, going back to restore points, all the way through to registry tweaks and none of these fix the issue.

The ONLY fix I have found is to reinstall windows 10 again and everything is fine for a couple of months before it decides to stop accessing the internet again.

I don't want to buy a new computer for the sake of something that is clearly a software issue but I'm out of ideas.

I've got other laptops running windows 10 that do not suffer this issue, all other devices can access the internet no problem.

So to summarise: The router is just fine (and yes I've turned that on and off too), the access to the internet is just fine (as checked with other devices), the wifi card is working just fine (as checked by being able to print to the HP wifi printer and being able to access the routers webpage), tethering to my phone (which has access the internet via 4g) does not give me internet access. Doing all of the above using a USB wifi dongle yields the same.

I would love to hear from someone at HP (if possible) to see if this is a common problem and if so, what the fix is! I don't want to buy a new PC but this is so frustrating.

Cheers, Rob
