HP Recommended

I am trying to connect my HP Pavilion 25xi monitor to my MacBook Pro laptop, using an HDMI cable. I've connected the two, but the display on the monitor doesn't show the full view--I'm getting part of the image cut off at the top/bottom/sides. What do I need to do to fix this? Many thanks!!!
