2711x Monitor
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Windows 10 will rotate the video signal, and I would like to use the monitor (HP 2711x) in portait orientation to get more out of the web, word processing, PDF viewing, and other use cases that are prone to be more vertical than horizontal (movies, streaming, etc.).

My question and concern is whether anyone has tested an adapter such as the following in portrait orientation:

It appears that it would be ideal for keeping the monitor in landscape; however, using the HP connection point to go portrait seems like a stretch. I am wondering whether an adapter such as the following is necessary to adequately support the monitor once rotated:
