DC5100 MT
Microsoft Windows XP

Hi all

problem is with the DC5100 MT which has 2 USB ports in front and 2 sets of 3 ports in back so 8 USB ports total

The BIOS is version 1.09 of 8/6/2008

Problem is in most cases plugging in USB devices and pop up saying "device unkown"

But then on random basis lets say plug a USB memory dongle in, fails like 3 times but 4th time USB in device manager shows it fine though in generic mode (slower speed)

I have tried all 8 ports and get same type of results

plugging in other type of USB devices seem to have less of  a problem

If plug in a USB memory dongle and get a "unkown device" in device manager I uninstall that unkown andhave P/C look for new devices and most cases comes back with unknown again but few times loads USB driver just fine

1. Cannot find anything on HP support website as

A. what newest BIOS version is and where to get it

B. Finding a newer USB drivers (orHUB drivers)

C. Finding where to get the HP diagnostic software to download

D. Some program that would diag all 8 USB ports and say what issue(s) might be

2. Any kn0wn fixes or patches to solve DC5100 MT USB issues

Any ideas on how to solve USB connect issues, where to URL to get newer BIOS than ( or is V1.09 flawed and need older version ?)

HP diag software for Win XP, where to download it ?

Is there any switches or jumpers on motherboard that effects USB ?

Any third party software that could be installed to replace and better all drivers related to the 8 USB ports this

DC5100 MT has ?

Any ideas to solve this USB device connecting issues ?

Thanks
