You CAN install an NVMe PCIe SSD drive in your M.2 slot on your HP Pavilion 590-p0057c desktop!

Success!!! I just successfully completed the install of a 500 GB SSD card into my HP Pavilion 590-p0057c Desktop. I cloned 500 GB of my 1 Terabyte Hard Drive to the SSD drive. I used Acronis True Image software (included with Western Digital SSD drive) to clone my Windows 10 (64 bit) OS and made the SSD the boot drive. Sooooo much faster now!! I will now use the legacy 1 Terabyte drive as a backup drive.

What I used: I used a (Western Digital) WD_BLACK SN750 SSD (NVMe SSD for PCIe 3.0 X 4 lanes) installed into the M.2 slot. The SSD card length you are looking for should be a "2280" (VERIFY!!). Also, you will need to find a screw to mount down the card. HP did not install a screw in the SSD card riser (pain X 2).  Any local PC repair shop should be able to scrounge one up. Best Buy, Staples, etc. did not have one, told me to "buy one off Amazon".

This 500 GB SSD mounted perfectly into the LINC's motherboards M.2 slot. HP does not specify in the Products Specifications section what variant of SSD this motherboard is capable of accepting. Possible choices could have been either the SATA or NVMe type of SSD.

This M.2 slot receives a M.2 module that is "M" keyed ONLY. This M.2 slot IS NOT designed to accept a SSD card that is B+M Keyed such as the SATA SSD. 

In closing, this was a royal pain to determine (for me, the PC "hobbiest") what should or could go into this PC's M.2 slot. The two largest commercial memory sites that I went to, both pointed to the slower SATA SSD drive type. ???? (Thanks HP!!)

Anyone with a 590 series Pavilion, that has the LINC's motherboard, should look into how the M.2 slot is keyed. See if it accepts the "M" keyed card, if it does, I recommend using the faster NVMe SSD for PCIe 3.0 x4 lane.
