Product: HP Z27 27-inch 4K UHD Display
Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina
Hello All - I'm trying to connect my new MacBook Pro 13" to my HP Z27 27-inch 4K UHD Display. I tried several cables and even just purchased a brand new Apple Thunderbolt 3 USB-C cable and cannot seem to get any display output from the MacBook to the HP Z27 monitor.
Here is what I have tried so far:
- Tried connecting the macbook to z27 with an HDMI cable (works fine, monitor works fine).
- Tried connecting old macbook to z27 with HDMI (works), with thunderbolt 3 (does not work)
- Tried buying a brand new cable (https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MQ4H2AM/A/thunderbolt-3-usb%E2%80%91c-cable-08-m) -- only power goes thru to charge the MBP but no display
- Tried factory reset of Z27, no luck
- Tried switching z27 power mode away from power saver to performance mode, no luck
- Tried switching input to usbc, hdmi, DP1, DP2, no luck
- Tried each of the options on Auto-Switch Input, DP Hot-Plug Detection, DP Mode, no luck
- Tried plugging, unplugging cable, rebooting macbook, tried both ports on MBP, no luck
Given everything I've tried, it would appear my HP Z27 USBC output does not work for display, though it is supposed to support 4k output to macbooks. What else can I try? What combination of settings on the monitor should I use to get display thru a USB-C Thunderbolt3 cable?
