I recently purchased 2 HP Bluetooth Headset 500. I also purchased a Bluetooth 5.0 USB key, since the primary computer did not have Bluetooth. Current computer is a recent i7 with latest Win10 updates.
The documentation is useless for someone who has never used Bluetooth
I figured out how to get connected and use the headset instead of the speakers. I figured out how to (more easily?) switch between the headset and speakers. Here's what I have to do:
1) the Bluetooth USB key is Not installed. -- the speakers work.
2) To turn on the headset and turn OFF the speakers, I plug in the USB key and Press-and-hold the ON button on the headset until the white light starts to flash. The order in which I do this doesn't seem to matter. After a few seconds, Windows switches over to the headset and turns off the speakers.
3) To turn ON the speakers and turn the headset OFF, the most reliable way I have found is to just unplug the USB key. You cannot do it by pressing and holding the headset button for a LOOONG time. This seems stupid.
4) If the headset is connected and operating for a long time (about 5 hours), it seems to just shut off. Nothing in the datasheet about that either. Not even close to the 20 hours claimed, if it is a question of how loud they are used (not that loud...).
But I had to find this out by lots of trial-and-error -- NOTHING in the datasheet.
Are there any easier ways to use these headsets (especially for my wife, who HATES technology).
