OMEN by HP 17-cb0588na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

First post and a complete novice.

I recently purchased a YottaMaster USB4 enclosure (HC4-C4) enclosure and a Samsung 980 PRO SSD to go inside .  This is for my OMEN by HP 17-cb0588na Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support  Thunderbolt 3 port (TB3).  This was to ensure some sort of future proofing and is, possibly, over the top for my needs

How do I configure my laptop/device to use the TB3 device and/or ensure it is running faster than my USB3.0 external HDD.  I copied 20gb of files and the TB3 copying was only 6 seconds faster !!!!.  What am I doing wrong.

I have read many articles about PCLe bus and lanes (a bit above my novice level).  Using HWiNFOPortable I have worked out i have a PCLe 3.0 with 16 lanes.

Please can someone help - in words of one syllable.

Thank-you in advance.
