HI! My db1100ny appears to be using an Asmedia ASM1051 microcontroller to link the optical disk drive to the motherboard(USB-to-SATA bridge). Since I have no use for the optical drive, I tried replacing it with a SATA SSD. However, I quickly noticed the SSD's speed was crippled to around 30MB/s. I then discovered the ASM1051 runs at USB 2.0 speed, despite reading online that it supports USB 3.0.
Is there any way to make this thing run at USB 3.0? I found a firmware flashing tool online called MPTool. I ran it and it detects the chip, but I haven't done anything to it yet. The ASM1051 appears to be connected to one of the USB 3.1 root hubs, so it should be able to run at USB 3.0 speeds. Maybe there is a firmware version that enables 3.0?
I'd appreciate any info as it would be nice to upgrade the storage even further.
