ProBook 450 G1
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a HP 450 G1 laptop, BIOS Mode Legacy

I installed the updated HP support Assistant and after that install was completed, it indicated there was a required BIOS update.

I clicked the BIOS update download, and after the download, a window popped up indicating that I would need my BIOS password upon reboot.

At that point, I was mind numb!

Why? I've never had or needed the BIOS password. I didn't even know there was one. Consequently, I have no idea where it would be.

I was able to cancel the install, reboot my system and that's where I'm at - at this moment.

My questions are:

  1. Where do I find my BIOS password?
  2. If I install the BIOS update, will the BIOS password be mandatory?
  3. Is there a way to create a new or reset my current BIOS password?
  4. Will not having the BIOS password actually prevent me from booting up like normal?

Thanks in advance for your help!!!
