Hello,

My charger recently got broken and I decided to buy a compatible one with same specs.

  • ORIGINAL: 19.5V, 4.62A, 90W
  • COMPATIBLE ONE: 19V, 4.74A, 90W

My battery was working fine with the original charger, however with the compatible one, altough it seems to charge the battery, something is wrong.

It charges really fast (like from 1% to 90% in less than 10 minutes) and then it discharges really fast, and when it capacity is at ~80% it suddenly displays 1%.

I have checked battery status and it can still hold its maximum capacity (48600 mWh) and when charging process reaches 100% it is filled with 48600 mWh. I even calibrated battery.

Voltaje while charging is ~12V and 3W. I use BatteryCare to get all this info (or Ubuntu's integrated feature).

By the way, this is not OS dependant because I use Windows and Ubuntu and it happens in both OS', so I have already discarded software issues.

EDIT: I am using a 65W HP charger now and the battery seems to be charging. When I use the battery, just like before it says 1% but I am able to use the computer for more than an hour. So, what is going on?

Thank you,

Felipe P.
