HP Probook 450 G4
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

About 1,5 years ago I got my HP Probook 450 G4. 2 months ago, the hinge slowly started breaking. At first you could hear it cracking while opening and closing the laptop. When you open and close the laptop now the hinge pushes the plastic bezel causing it to crack if you don't push it back yourself. If you close the laptop the screen is at an angle. Pieces of plastic and multiple screws have fallen out of this spot in the meantime.

I have tried to contact HP multiple times. They told me they would be looking for a solution and would call me back later.. 1 week later, they told me I destroyed the hinge using "brute force" and the only way they could fix it would be by me paying. I have no idea how and why I would break the hinge intentionally.

I d'rather not pay for something that seems like a design fault. This forum alone contains about 5000 posts about broken hinges. Googling reveals even more hinge problems with HP laptops and laptops from other manafacturers.

I would really like for this to be solved, as my school requires this laptop to be used. I'm currently using a borrowed laptop, however I can't use this laptop forever. Is it possible to get this repaired for free, or do I have to pay up, as it seems this is a design fault?
