I have a strange one for you.
This past weekend I took my HP probook to my in-laws' house in another city, set it up in a spare room and let it connect automatically to their house' wifi router located on the same floor down the hall. I've done this many times before, mmost recently about two months ago, and usually everything works well, but this time I had serious problems with my keyboard. The backspace, delete, esc, g, h and number 4 keypad keys were not working at all, not even intermittently. Other keys were probably not working as well, I did not check them all, and occasionally the wifi wouldn't connect after waking the laptop up from Sleep mode, but HP's network checker utility usually cleared it out. But since I had no USB keyboard with me I was unable to type anything useful which essentially reduced me to just wandering the internet using only the mousepad. Even typing in the URL bar was difficult. A few times I tried cutting and pasting individual letters into the URL bar but that got messy so quickly gave up.
Suspecting a bad keyboard I decided to order a new one. This, too, was difficult but I was able to somehow complete an Amazon order using only the mousepad. Upon my return home I plugged the laptop in and let it connect automatically to my home wifi. Guess what? EVERYTING WORKED BEAUTIFULLY! All bad keys are now working as they were before my trip. No HW/SW/driver changes were made before, during or after, only the device's location changed. So how is this possible? Is it a wifi problem, a keyboard problem, or something else?
Thanks.
