Having an Elitebook 840 G7 that I like to charge via USB C. According to the spec this should be possible. When I try using a generic USB C adapter, the battery is not charging at all. Not when the laptop is ON, nor in Sleep mode, nor when it is off. The rating of the adapter should be fine 45W (5V/3A, 9V/3A, 12V/3A, 15V/3A, 20V/3.25A).
All updates and BIOS are the latest versions. Teh adapter is plugged direct to the laptop. Also when using a Thunderbolt dock all other functions are fine (e.g. multiple screen via HDMI and Displayport) apart from charging. The adapter also is supplying energy to the Thunderbolt dock, so apparently it works (at least at 5V)
Is there any setting I may overlook or can there be another reason?
