I would love to tweak my somewhat neutered i7 "U" Model! Which means Ultra Low Power! It runs good but a little sluggish by 2021 standards. I know it's not necessary but if possible with no involved hacks I would love to see this thing a little snappier. I really need to put an SSD in it but last time I put one of my Micron SSD's in a HP Laptop it made noises, I assume because it is made of metal. A plastic ssd fixed that, but that was another laptop that I want to get rid of.
It looks like I can raise the cpu Base Frequency from 1.80 to 2.00 GHz, but I'm not sure if it is possible on this laptop. I assume this is done in the BIOS, then I read that it might be done in Power Options, but I also wonder if there is a program that allows it to be done in OS? Dell seems to offer something like this but don't know if HP does. And if I see the option should I even attempt it? I'm going to take a closer look now but thought I would try to get some solid info in the meantime. I should add, I don't care too much about battery life. If I see a nice performance gain I will play around with it. If it does not feel faster I will change it back.
