I have an external Harddisk which was working fine on my laptop running on Win 8.1 (64-bit). Just all of sudden, my laptop stopped displaying my external HDD in My Computer (This PC). However, the HDD can be seen in Disk Management Console, but nothing can be done with it. When I try to open the Properties, I get the error below (also attached):
The operation failed to complete because the Disk Management console view is not up-to-date....
At some point, the same thing happened to my USB Flash Disk, but that has resolved on it own.
At the moment, my external HDD still works fine on my other laptop running on Win 7 SP1 (64-bit)
I've researched online to resolve this issue but no solution has worked so far. I've tried the following as suggested from my research:
- Uninstalled USB Root Hub Drivers from Device Manager.
- Assigned Drive Letter from startup using Diskpart in CMD.
- Ran Windows Update.
- Checked the enternal Disk from my other laptop for errors.
- Scanned my laptop for virus.
Please, help!!! It hurts my head so much.
