Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Same left ctrl key fail as several other users on old threads with a used EliteBook 840 running Win10 Enterprise. There's a handy online utility I found at http://keyboardchecker.com/ which shows the fault clearly. My main USB external keyboard works perfectly, but the built-in laptop keyboard doesn't.

- The Function keys perform special laptop functions such as Sleep, Volume, Brightness rather than F1, F2 etc.

- The fn key works as ctrl

- alt OK

- Right ctrl OK

- Windows key OK

BIOS: P78 Ver. 01.15 - 01/25/2018

Keyboard Rev: KBC Version 45.3F

This would appear to be a known issue without a known solution.
